Privacy notice

We collect only the information needed for event participation, and we tell you plainly how it is used.

01Who we are

This notice explains how Global Career Developer Industry Limited (GCDIL) (“we”, “us”), the host of Edo Youth Economic Festival 2026 (EYEF 2026), collects and uses personal data through this website. We are the data controller for the information you give us here. We process personal data in line with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (NDPA).

Questions or requests: info@globalyoutheconomicfestival.com.

02What we collect

We collect only what is needed for the purpose you came for:

  • Registration: your name, email address, optional phone number and organisation, and the category you register under (for example participant, student, investor or exhibitor).
  • Exhibitor applications: the above, plus your business or project name, showcase category, preferred stand size and a short description of what you will showcase.
  • Enquiries (invest, partner, sponsor, exhibit, speak, media, innovation): your name, email, optional phone and organisation, and your message.
  • National Youth Ambassador Initiative applications: your name, email, phone, age, occupation, the level you wish to represent, your state, senatorial district, local government area and ward or community, your focus areas, and your motivation statement.
  • Technical data: basic server logs and your IP address, used for security and to limit abusive form submissions.

We do not ask for government ID numbers, financial account details or other sensitive personal data through this website.

03How and why we use it

  • To register you for the festival, issue and check your confirmation or gate credential, and send you event information.
  • To review and respond to exhibitor applications, enquiries and Ambassador applications.
  • To plan and run the event, and to produce anonymous statistics.
  • To keep the website secure and prevent spam and abuse.

Our lawful bases are your consent (which you give when you submit a form and can withdraw at any time), steps taken at your request before or as part of your participation, and our legitimate interests in running a safe, well-organised event. We do not use your data for automated decision-making, and we do not sell it.

04Who we share it with

We share personal data only where needed to run the festival:

  • Our service providers who host this website, store uploaded files and send email on our behalf, under confidentiality and security obligations.
  • Our event partners (Edo State Government and the National Youth Assembly of Nigeria) where necessary for event delivery, for example for accreditation or for the Ambassador Initiative, and only to the extent needed.
  • Authorities where the law requires it.

Where a service provider is outside Nigeria, we take steps to make sure your data remains protected as the NDPA requires.

05How long we keep it

We keep registration, enquiry and application data for as long as needed to run the festival and follow up, and for up to 24 months after the event, unless you ask us to delete it sooner or the law requires us to keep it longer. Email logs and security logs are kept for a shorter period.

06How we protect it

We use encrypted connections (HTTPS), restrict administrator access to authorised staff, protect forms against automated abuse, and store passwords only as one-way hashes. No online service is completely risk-free, so if we become aware of a breach that affects you, we will notify you and the regulator as the law requires.

07Your rights

Under the NDPA you have the right to:

  • ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
  • ask us to correct data that is wrong or incomplete;
  • ask us to delete your data or restrict how we use it;
  • object to processing based on our legitimate interests;
  • withdraw your consent at any time (this does not affect what we did before you withdrew);
  • receive your data in a portable format where applicable.

To use any of these rights, email info@globalyoutheconomicfestival.com. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC).

08Cookies and tracking

This website does not use advertising cookies or third-party trackers. Staff who sign in to the administration area receive a strictly necessary session cookie; visitors do not. If we add analytics later, we will use a privacy-respecting tool and update this notice.

09Young people

The festival is built for young people. If you are under 18, please ask a parent or guardian to help you with a form. We may ask for a parent or guardian’s consent before processing an under-18 application, for example for the Ambassador Initiative.
